Advanced Energy Industries has recently unveiled its latest innovation in the field of power supplies for medical lasers - the FlexiCharge FC2500. This new 800W system is designed to cater to the evolving needs of medical laser systems and electrosurgery applications, offering a range of advanced features and capabilities.

The FlexiCharge FC2500 is an all-in-one, intelligent system power and capacitor charger platform that streamlines the design process for medical laser systems, including applications such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy and Pulsed Magnetic (PM) Therapy. Traditionally, these systems required separate power supplies for charging capacitors and powering system electronics.

With the introduction of the FlexiCharge FC2500, Advanced Energy has revolutionized the industry by providing a single integrated platform that combines high-voltage capacitor charging with multiple-output low-voltage AC-DC conversion. This not only simplifies the design process but also enhances the overall efficiency and performance of medical laser systems.

The FC2500 is capable of delivering high-voltage capacitor charging up to 2.5 kJ, along with multiple-output, low-voltage AC-DC power of up to 800W. By offering constant power over a wide range of charge voltages, from 250V to 1000V, the system enables faster charging at lower voltages, resulting in shorter treatment times and increased patient throughput.

Moreover, the use of a single power supply for both capacitor charging and system power significantly reduces application development times and complexity. This integrated approach also helps in minimizing the size and weight of the system by up to 30%, while ensuring compliance with safety and EMI standards.

Shrinidhi Chandrasekharan, senior vice president of medical products at Advanced Energy, expressed his enthusiasm for the new FlexiCharge FC2500, stating, “This latest addition to Advanced Energy’s revolutionary FlexiCharge series of capacitor chargers underscores our continued commitment to developing innovative solutions that meet the power and performance demands for next-generation laser, IPL, and pulsed power systems.”

He further added, “With the introduction of FC2500, Advanced Energy continues its leadership in new technology and power solutions for medical applications, enabling faster time to market for medical OEMs.”

The FC2500 is compliant with IEC60601-1 (3rd edition) and IEC60601-1-2 (4th edition) standards, ensuring the highest level of safety and reliability for medical laser designs. This latest offering from Advanced Energy reaffirms the company's commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the field of medical power supplies.

While Advanced Energy recently made an offer for XP Power, a company specializing in high-voltage power systems, it ultimately decided not to proceed with the bid. This strategic decision reflects Advanced Energy's focus on enhancing its existing product portfolio and delivering cutting-edge solutions to its customers.
