Faraday Technology Corporation has unveiled its latest development platform, FlashKit-22RRAM, aimed at accelerating high-performance IoT and MCU applications. This innovative platform, built on UMC’s 22ULP process, combines embedded Resistive RAM (RRAM, ReRAM) technology with a robust IP ecosystem and development-ready support. The result is a cost-effective and power-efficient System-on-Chip (SoC) development platform tailored for edge devices.
The FlashKit-22RRAM integrates a full-featured RRAM subsystem with DWORD access, offering performance comparable to SST eFlash while minimizing extra-mask requirements. This feature makes it particularly well-suited for consumer-grade eNVM applications like AIoT, smart home devices, wearables, and portable gadgets. The platform has been silicon-proven and is fully equipped to support customers in swiftly transitioning to volume production on UMC’s 22ULP node.
One of the key highlights of FlashKit-22RRAM is its support for embedded CPU options, including ARM Cortex-M7 and VeeR EH1 RISC-V. Additionally, it incorporates a comprehensive suite of integrated IPs such as USB 3.0 Type-C, GMAC, and PLL. The platform also boasts a built-in RRAM controller with built-in self-test (BIST) for streamlined data access and enhanced production reliability. Furthermore, an embedded FPGA (eFPGA) block is included to offer increased design flexibility, enabling post-silicon logic changes, ECO, or GPIO reassignment.
Flash Lin, the COO of Faraday Technology, emphasized the significance of FlashKit-22RRAM in the market. He stated, “FlashKit-22RRAM showcases Faraday’s ongoing dedication to delivering optimized platforms that reduce development efforts and expedite time-to-market for our customers. With this platform, our customers now have a highly integrated and cost-efficient solution to swiftly introduce differentiated eNVM-based products to the market, with the flexibility to scale for future requirements.”
In a related development, QuickLogic Corporation announced the integration of its eFPGA IP into Faraday Technology’s cutting-edge FlashKit-22RRAM SoC Development Platform. This collaboration is set to provide designers with unparalleled flexibility and adaptability to address a wide array of IoT applications, further enhancing the capabilities and versatility of the platform.
