The EU PREVAIL project is making significant strides in accelerating the development of edge-AI technologies. This ambitious initiative involves the installation of cleanroom tools and the establishment of a Testing and Experimentation Facility for Edge-AI Hardware (TEF Edge AI HW) across Europe. Leading organizations such as CEA-Leti, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, imec, and VTT are collaborating to drive innovation in this field.

At the core of the project is the goal to design, evaluate, test, and fabricate new circuits that will power the next generation of edge-AI applications. By working closely with selected SMEs, industrial partners, and research labs, the consortium is paving the way for the creation of cutting-edge technologies that will shape the future of artificial intelligence.

One of the key objectives of the PREVAIL project is to provide European designers with easy access to advanced manufacturing infrastructure. This infrastructure will enable users to produce early research samples and expedite the commercialization process. Sergio Nicoletti from CEA-Leti emphasizes the importance of this goal, stating, “The PREVAIL project aims to position Europe as a hub for innovation in edge-AI technologies."

As part of the project's roadmap, the consortium plans to open access to the Testing and Experimentation Facility for Edge-AI Hardware to a wider audience of EU designers by May 2026. This move is expected to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the rapid development of new edge-AI components and prototypes.

With a focus on driving technological advancements and fostering a culture of innovation, the EU PREVAIL project is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of edge-AI technologies in Europe and beyond. By bringing together expertise from leading organizations and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the project is set to accelerate the pace of innovation in this critical field.
