Inova Semiconductors recently introduced a cutting-edge mixed-signal transceiver designed specifically for automotive ISELED light and sensor networks (ILaS). The Inova INLT220Q is a game-changer in the industry, offering a daisy-chain connection with 2 Mbit/s and low latency over several meters of simple, unshielded twisted pair cable (UTP).
This innovative device enables the construction of centrally controlled, robust automotive ISELED LED networks integrated with sensors and actuators. With the capability to support up to 4079 individual addressable nodes, a vehicle-wide ILaS network can be seamlessly established using the packed, switched communication protocol.
Featuring two cable interfaces (ISP and ESP) and an interface for ISELED components (chip to chip, CSP), the transceiver IC provides a high level of flexibility for creating branched networks. Additionally, three extra GPIOs are available for controlling sensors like buttons and switches, as well as actuators such as vibration motors for haptic feedback.
The INLT220Q ILaS transceiver is equipped with a temperature sensor and an A/D converter to monitor the device's operating voltage and ambient temperature. Moreover, an OTP memory is integrated, allowing users to store essential product information and network addresses. This feature ensures seamless network control even in the event of component failures, eliminating the need to adjust the addressing table in the software.
Furthermore, the ISELED transceiver is set to undergo AEC-Q100 qualification and can operate within a wide temperature range of –40°C to +105°C. Inova offers the IC in a compact 5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm wetQFN-20 package with a 0.65mm pitch. Samples and small quantities of the INLT220Q are currently available for purchase worldwide on a royalty-free basis.
