Anglia Components Expands E-commerce Platform to Europe
The e-commerce platform of UK distributor, Anglia Components, is now crossing borders to operate across Europe. The company has made significant investments to prepare for this expansion, including £2 million in its warehouse and infrastructure, and £750,000 in software development, which includes smart AI algorithms developed in-house. These investments have allowed Anglia Components to compete with other distributors by offering a European operation with an inventory worth around £60 million.
The announcement of Anglia Live in Europe was made by CEO Steve Rawlins, who has made an impressive recovery after suffering a stroke two years ago. Rawlins explained that Anglia's strategy is to build a large inventory that is technically deep. The company will provide a standard two-day service from its UK distribution centre in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, with shipments being handled by FedEx via its Paris hub. Invoicing will be available in US dollars, Euros, and Sterling. There is no minimum order value, and orders over €50/$60 will be delivered duty paid, while lower value orders will be subject to a €20/$30 service charge.
The expansion of the distribution centre has increased storage space by 40%, enabling Anglia Components to reach its 150,000 customers in Europe. Karen Ward, the company's commercial director, stated, "We have identified a gap in the market for a Europe-wide digital distributor that offers a competitive service from locally held inventory. When major franchises invited us to bring our service to Europe, it was an opportunity we simply could not say 'no' to."
The e-commerce platform has been engineered to provide real-time visibility of stock, including stock due in that is not already committed. Additionally, it features a parametric search engine and an industry-standard cross-reference. Any product changes or terminations are clearly displayed. This ensures that customers have access to accurate and up-to-date information.
Anglia Components is committed to sustainability. The company uses recycled packaging that is appropriate for the goods being shipped. Furthermore, a new packaging design has been implemented, which utilizes recyclable materials instead of plastic tape. Rawlins also highlighted that shipping locally within Europe is more environmentally friendly compared to shipping from a warehouse in the US.
