PA Consulting has set the date for its highly anticipated Raspberry Pi competition Awards Day, catering to students aged 8-18. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
This year's theme revolves around the concept of 'improving health and well-being, whether at home, in the office, at school, or on the move.' The prestigious event will be hosted at the Google offices located in Pancras Square, London.
With the primary objective of fostering enthusiasm for STEM subjects among young individuals, the annual competition, now in its 12th edition, challenges students from various age groups to leverage the capabilities of Raspberry Pi in addressing real-world issues. In the previous year, participants were tasked with exploring the theme of 'Accelerating Energy Transition.'
"Our Raspberry Pi competition serves as an exceptional platform for aspiring technologists throughout the UK to exhibit their creativity and coding prowess," remarked Jiten Kachhela, the Global Head of Digital & Data at PA Consulting.
"Advocating for STEM education aligns with our core mission; this competition empowers students to test their innovative ideas, unleash their creative potential, and leverage technology in inventive ways to tackle global challenges," Kachhela added.
The competition is open to all students enrolled in schools and colleges across the UK, offering participants the opportunity to secure a £1000 prize for their educational institution. Students can choose to participate individually or as part of a team, with judging taking place across four distinct age categories based on academic years.
Entries will be evaluated based on criteria such as "creativity, technical proficiency, and societal impact" by a panel comprising industry experts. Notable judges represent a diverse array of organizations including Rentokil Initial, Google Cloud, Anglia Ruskin University, NHS England, and the Department of Health and Social Care.
PA Consulting has generously provided a range of complimentary resources to support participating teams and their educators. These resources encompass webinars tailored for teachers to offer guidance and insights for their teams, interactive support sessions featuring technical specialists from PA Consulting's partner entities, and Raspberry Pi computers for the initial one hundred teams to register.
