The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has expanded its patent outreach office network with the addition of Atlanta, Georgia and Strafford County, New Hampshire. This development comes as part of the implementation of the Unleashing American Innovators Act of 2022 (UAIA).

The selection of these new regional offices was based on several factors. Firstly, the number of patent-intensive industries near the site was taken into consideration. Additionally, the presence of research-intensive institutions, including higher education institutions, in the vicinity played a role in the decision-making process. Furthermore, the state and local government legal frameworks supporting intellectual property-intensive industries near the site were evaluated. Lastly, the proximity of the office to underrepresented groups such as individual inventors, small businesses, veterans, low-income populations, students, and rural populations was also considered.

The decision to establish a patent outreach office in Strafford County, New Hampshire was made with these criteria in mind. The region's potential for fostering innovation and its existing intellectual property-intensive industries made it a suitable location for the office.

The primary purpose of these regional offices is to enhance accessibility to patent services and resources for inventors, entrepreneurs, and businesses in their respective areas. By establishing these offices, the USPTO aims to support and encourage innovation across the country.
