Diodes, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, is targeting active matrix OLED panels with its latest innovation - the AL3565 three-output power management dc-dc converter. This converter operates within a voltage range of 2.9 to 4.8V, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

The AL3565 features a unique programming capability, allowing users to adjust the output voltages with ease. By using a single pad, the VPOS and VNEG output voltages can be programmed in steps of 100mV, while AVDD can be adjusted in steps of 300mV. Upon power-up, the default output voltages are set to 4.6V, -2.5V or -4.0V, and 6.1V or 6.4V, depending on the configuration of the pad.

"Once the device is enabled, the AL3565 starts with its default values," explained a representative from Diodes. "The interface counts the rising edges applied to the pad and sets the new values accordingly." This programmability feature offers flexibility and customization options for various applications.

In addition to its programmability, the AL3565 also includes a soft-start feature that limits in-rush currents during power-up. This ensures a smooth and controlled rise in the output voltages, starting with AVDD, followed by VPOS and VNEG. Furthermore, the device offers the option to fast-discharge the outputs when it is disabled, providing additional protection and convenience.

The AL3565 is designed with various protection mechanisms to safeguard against potential issues. It includes short-circuit protection and thermal shut-down, which activates when the junction temperature exceeds +150°C. Once the temperature drops back down to +140°C, the device automatically restarts. This ensures the longevity and reliability of the converter.

Operating over a wide temperature range of -40 to +85°C, the AL3565 is suitable for use in various environments. It is packaged in a compact 3 x 3mm 16-pad QFN3030 with an exposed pad, offering ease of integration into different systems. Additionally, Diodes provides special-order options for a WL-CSP packaging, catering to specific requirements.
