Versatile DIN-Rail Relays: 7 Options Spanning 100ms to 100 Hours

Teledyne Relays has recently unveiled a seven-function DIN rail mount timing relay that is designed to be a versatile problem solver for process control. This innovative relay is capable of operating over a wide range of time intervals, from 100 milliseconds to 100 hours. It features a 5A 240Vac change-over (SPDT) contact, which can handle "small inductive loads" at 2.5A.

With its ability to work with both AC and DC supplies, the timing relay offers flexibility and compatibility with various systems. There are two versions available, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their specific needs.

The connections for the relay are simple and straightforward. There are three connections for the contacts, two for power, and one for a control input. The control input is intended to be connected via a switch to the + or live supply. This setup ensures easy installation and integration into existing systems.

Operating the timing relay is made easy with three front panel controls that allow users to set the mode and time. The timing modes include "delay on operate," "interval," "interval on trigger open," "double interval," "delay on release," "symmetrical recycler on-first," and "symmetrical recycler off-first." The data sheet provides clear descriptions of each mode, making it simple for users to select the appropriate setting for their application.

The timing options for the relay range from 0.1 seconds to 100 hours, with setting accuracy of ≤5% and repeatability of ≤0.2%. This ensures precise and reliable timing for various processes and operations.

To assist users in monitoring the relay's status, a yellow LED is included. The LED blinks slowly during timing and blinks rapidly if the front panel controls are set incorrectly. A steady-on LED indicates different conditions depending on the selected mode.

In terms of contact rating, the relay can handle resistive loads of up to 5A for 250Vac or 24Vdc. For small inductive loads, the contact rating drops to 2.5A at either voltage. The relay has an electrical life of ≥50,000 operations (5A 250Vac cosφ=1).

The compact case of the relay measures 17.5mm wide and 81 x 67mm in size. This makes it suitable for installation in various industrial and commercial settings.
