Xmos Enhances Design Tool Suite with Audio Weaver Integration

Xmos has recently announced a collaboration with audio software specialist DSP Concepts to enhance the development tools for xcore.ai audio processing ICs. This partnership aims to integrate graphical audio and voice processing design software into the existing ecosystem of xcore.ai products.

One of the key additions to the development tools is Audio Weaver, a drag-and-drop graphical design software that simplifies the process of creating complex audio pipelines. According to Xmos, DSP Concepts has successfully ported their platform software, AWE Core, onto the xcore.ai platform. This integration allows users to seamlessly access a wide range of audio processing modules and run real-time audio pipelines on the xcore.ai MultiChannel audio development board.

The xcore.ai ICs are equipped with two 800MHz hardware cores, each featuring 512kbyte RAM and a vector unit. These cores support up to 1,200Mips, or 2,400Mips in dual issue mode, thanks to the implementation of 16 logical cores. The vector units offer impressive capabilities, including multiple multiply-add operations and complex processing tasks, making them ideal for both DSP and AI applications.

"Audio Weaver is purpose-built to streamline the design process, offering a visual approach, multiple deployment options, and integrations with chip partners. The XK-AUDIO-316-MC-AB USB MultiChannal Audio evaluation kit serves as the development hardware for implementing the Audio Weaver platform and exploring the capabilities of xcore.ai ICs. This kit provides a hands-on experience for developers looking to leverage the power of graphical audio design software in their projects.
