Gas Pump Developer Joins Forces for EV Charger Expansion

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a leading provider of fueling and convenience store equipment, has announced a strategic partnership with SK Signet to develop an innovative EV charging system tailored for fuel retailers. The new Konect service is designed to offer a comprehensive electric vehicle charging infrastructure, equipped with cutting-edge power electronics and software solutions to facilitate seamless EV charging experiences.

This collaboration aims to integrate Konect with Gilbarco Veeder-Root's existing suite of fueling payment and service solutions. The system has already been successfully deployed in the USA and Europe, featuring a 400kW DC fast charger and a liquid-cooled 600kW power unit from SK Signet. Plans are underway to expand into additional markets in the near future, highlighting the global potential of this partnership.

One of the key highlights of the Konect system is its versatile dispenser design, which can be utilized across various charging applications, whether distributed or all-in-one setups. In addition to the hardware components, Konect also offers consultancy, installation, maintenance, and customer service support, ensuring a holistic approach to EV charging solutions. The system is specifically engineered for seamless integration with Gilbarco Veeder-Root's existing fueling, payment, and service offerings.

SK Signet, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, will be responsible for manufacturing the EV charging equipment for Konect in both the US and Korea. This collaboration brings together the expertise of two industry leaders to deliver a state-of-the-art charging solution that meets the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market.

In a bid to further expand the reach of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Europe, Gilbarco Veeder-Root has allocated €24 million towards enhancing the fast charger network on the continent. This investment underscores the company's commitment to driving the adoption of electric mobility and supporting the transition towards a more sustainable transportation ecosystem.
