UK automotive engineering firm Cosworth has recently made a significant announcement regarding a complete overhaul of its leadership team in a strategic move to shift its direction and focus.

Leading the new team is Gerald Forsythe, who, as one of the two Cosworth shareholders representing his company Indeck-Cosworth, has taken on the role of Chairman. Joining him are Dr. Florian Kamelger, a former surgeon and consultant from R-Universe, as the new CEO, and Dr. Andreas Baenziger, who will serve as Deputy Chairman and both will also join the Board of Directors.

The primary objective of the revamped leadership team is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the business, with a strong emphasis on leveraging Cosworth's core competencies in developing and manufacturing powertrains by utilizing its Propulsion, Electronics, and Delta Cosworth business units.

Dr. Florian Kamelger, the newly appointed CEO, expressed his vision for the company, stating, "There will be changes that we have to make, as Cosworth has seen many in its 66-year history. Every time it has emerged stronger, fitter, and at the forefront of automotive technology. It deserves to be seen as a true global luxury automotive brand, and the entire team will be working tirelessly to achieve that."

The restructuring also marks the departure of Hal Reisiger, who has been the CEO since 2013 and chairman since 2021, signaling a new chapter for Cosworth under the guidance of the reinvigorated leadership team.

“After many years as a shareholder of Cosworth, I am delighted to take on the role of Chairman. Cosworth is a world-class company, with world-class talent and expertise, and a customer base that is the envy of the industry,” said Forsythe, highlighting his commitment to driving the company forward.

The company's portfolio includes expertise in electrification, with divisions such as Delta Cosworth and Cosworth Electronics focusing on high-voltage battery development, hybrid and EV control systems, drivetrains, and full vehicle programmes. Cosworth is currently working on bespoke V12 engines for Gordon Murray Automotive and Aston Martin, in addition to a recent partnership with the revitalized Bizzarrini brand.

Founded in 1958 by Lotus engineers Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth, Cosworth has a rich history of ownership by Ford, UEI, and Audi, with notable milestones such as selling off its electronics division to Mahle before establishing its own electronics division.
