Flow Computing, a groundbreaking company based in Helsinki, has recently emerged from stealth mode with a significant €4 million in funding. This funding is earmarked for their innovative intellectual property that promises to revolutionize the performance of processor cores across the board.

Founded as a spin-out of the esteemed VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland, Flow Computing has developed a licensable Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) IP core. This core can be seamlessly integrated into chip designs to enhance performance by up to an astounding 100 times.

The beauty of Flow Computing's PPU IP lies in its versatility. It can be incorporated into any CPU design architecture, instruction set, or process geometry. Upon implementation, it immediately optimizes the flow of instructions through the core, resulting in a doubling or even tripling of performance.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the PPU is its full compatibility with existing software applications for the respective CPU architecture. By simply recompiling the code to leverage the PPU, applications can experience acceleration of up to 100 times, eliminating the need for GPU accelerators in AI applications without requiring any software modifications.

Flow Computing has strategically tailored licenses for various segments of the CPU market, including mobile, PC, and supercomputers. The more PPU cores integrated on-die, the greater the subsequent performance boost. This optimization opens up new possibilities for data center and AI chip designers, as well as developers of chips for autonomous vehicles, by offering enhanced AI performance at lower power consumption.
