Filtronic, a leading technology company based in the UK, has recently secured a follow-on production order worth $9 million for its E-band Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) modules as part of its strategic partnership with SpaceX. This significant order highlights the crucial role that Filtronic's E-band SSPA technology plays in supporting the deployment of SpaceX's Starlink constellation, which aims to provide high-speed, low-latency internet services to users worldwide.

The E-band SSPA devices developed by Filtronic are designed to boost low-power Radio Frequency (RF) signals to higher power levels, making them essential for operating in higher frequency mmWave bands where voltage levels are typically very low. Filtronic manufactures these cutting-edge mmWave devices at its facility in Sedgefield, UK, and has the capability to assemble them in Maryland, US, ensuring efficient production and delivery.

As part of the ongoing collaboration between Filtronic and SpaceX, the recent order is a testament to the strong partnership established between the two companies. SpaceX, headquartered in Hawthorne, California, is known for its ambitious Starlink project, which currently has 6,281 satellites in low earth orbit to support its internet service. Notably, 100 of these satellites enable direct connections to mobile phones, enhancing connectivity for users across the globe.

Nat Edington, the Chief Executive Officer at Filtronic and former CEO of battery management system chip designer Dukosi in Edinburgh, expressed his enthusiasm about the new order from SpaceX. "We are delighted to receive this further order from our partner, SpaceX, as we continue to support the rollout of the Starlink constellation," said Edington. "This order underscores the significant role we play in helping SpaceX achieve its mission, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration over the next five years."

In addition to the recent order, Filtronic has also announced the opening of a new RF design center in Manchester, further expanding its capabilities and expertise in the field of advanced technology. With a strong focus on innovation and collaboration, Filtronic remains committed to driving technological advancements and supporting the global connectivity goals of partners like SpaceX.
