AirConsole has introduced a groundbreaking concept as the world’s first gaming platform specifically designed for cars. By offering immersive features, it has the ability to transform any car into a fully featured gaming station, integrating seamlessly with the infotainment, sound, and light systems.

Alongside the popular ID.7, ID.5, ID.4, and ID.3 product lines from ID software 4.0, the AirConsole gaming platform will also be made available for the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf, and Golf Estate models. This expansion ensures that a wide range of Volkswagen vehicles can now enjoy the benefits of in-car gaming entertainment.

The AirConsole gaming platform aims to provide enjoyable entertainment for passengers on the road, whether it be during a charging session or a quick break. The new games offered by AirConsole are accessible through the infotainment display, effectively turning it into a gaming console, with the smartphone serving as the controller.

Passengers in the ID.7 Tourer can engage in multiplayer gaming sessions with each other using their smartphones, mirroring the experience of playing at home with traditional gaming consoles and controllers. Volkswagen has announced plans to launch AirConsole in select European countries starting from mid-September, with a further expansion of game offerings across more European regions by the end of 2024.

For an optimal in-car gaming experience, players only require their smartphones as controllers and the VW Active Info Display. Upon launching the AirConsole app in the vehicle, a simple scan of a QR code displayed on the screen establishes an intuitive connection between the smartphone and the car. The platform supports multiple players simultaneously, allowing rear passengers to join in on the gaming fun during stops. Whether playing solo or with all vehicle occupants, gameplay is only enabled when the vehicle is parked.
