Siemens took a significant step in its eMobility journey by consolidating its charging activities in 2018 and recently establishing a dedicated business unit in 2022. This strategic move aimed to enhance the company's focus and agility in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) market. The acquisition of Heliox, a prominent Dutch charging equipment manufacturer, further bolstered Siemens' position in the industry.

The separation of Siemens eMobility into a distinct entity is expected to empower the business with entrepreneurial freedom. This newfound independence will enable the unit to operate more efficiently and respond swiftly to market demands. By streamlining its operations, Siemens aims to position itself as a key player in the eMobility sector, driving innovation and sustainable solutions.

At a recent industry event, Siemens showcased its cutting-edge Megawatt Charging System (MCS) prototype, capable of delivering a remarkable 1 MW charge. Additionally, the company unveiled the SICHARGE D 400, a compact DC fast charger offering up to 400 kW of power. Equipped with advanced features such as liquid-cooled cables and dynamic power distribution, the charger underscores Siemens' commitment to delivering high-performance solutions.

Siemens has strategically invested in technology development and product expansion to solidify its leadership in the eMobility market. Through targeted acquisitions like Heliox, a renowned provider of DC fast charging solutions for electric buses and trucks, Siemens has expanded its market reach and enhanced its power electronics capabilities. These initiatives have positioned Siemens as a key player in the global eMobility landscape.

Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Smart Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of the revamped eMobility setup in driving profitability and fostering strategic partnerships. The restructured business unit is poised to capitalize on emerging opportunities in key market segments and geographies, paving the way for enhanced customer engagement and market expansion. With a focus on sustainable transport solutions, Siemens is committed to supporting the transition to electric mobility and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
