Through a recent collaboration, Honeywell has announced its intention to integrate Qualcomm Technologies' connectivity and AI capabilities into its existing AI-powered applications, such as the Honeywell Field Process Knowledge System (PKS). This integration aims to enhance the Field PKS by providing connectivity to remote areas of plant and manufacturing facilities, enabling better data capture and analytics at the edge.

Qualcomm Technologies' portfolio of low-power AI-enabled processors, along with native wireless connectivity, software, and computer vision, combined with Honeywell's extensive sensing technologies, will pave the way for the development of a new family of industrial sensors. These sensors will be used for monitoring process parameters, asset conditions, and environmental factors, ultimately delivering more information to field technicians and service personnel.

"We are committed to developing on-device generative AI to drive the expansion of the connected intelligent edge for digital transformation," stated Nakul Duggal, group general manager at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. This collaboration with Honeywell aims to revolutionize how industries interact with their environments through intelligent technology. The recent acquisition of Sequans' 4G IoT technology further strengthens Qualcomm Technologies' offerings for Industrial IoT applications.

"The combination of Qualcomm Technologies' on-device AI processors with Honeywell's AI-enabled technology will empower field workers to work more efficiently, optimize assets, and enhance overall process industry performance," said Pramesh Maheshwari, President of Honeywell Process Solutions. The introduction of AI-enabled systems like Honeywell's Field PKS and Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent is pushing the boundaries of what is achievable in the process industry.

Earlier this year, Honeywell and Qualcomm Technologies embarked on the development of an AI-enabled Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent. This agent is designed to enable workers in distribution centers and retail industries to interact naturally with handheld devices using voice, pictures, and video. Looking ahead to 2025, Honeywell plans to integrate computer vision capabilities into the Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent and Honeywell's Field PKS.
