BrainChip and Onsor Technologies have joined forces to harness the power of the Akida neuromorphic AI chip in predicting epileptic seizures. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the way seizures are detected and managed, offering a proactive approach to healthcare.
The Onsor system comprises smartglasses equipped with EEG sensors, integrated with neuromorphic processing capabilities and a user-friendly alert system on a mobile device. The cornerstone of this innovation is a seizure prediction neural network that operates on BrainChip’s Akida architecture. This neural network has been trained using Onsor's extensive data sets, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of over 95% right out of the box.
Maadh Al Hinaai, the CEO of Onsor Technologies in Oman, expressed the company's vision, stating, “At Onsor, we believe in leveraging technology to empower individuals rather than just providing assistance. Our goal was to develop a life-changing device that can predict seizures before they occur using AI technology."
Frontgrade Gaisler recently licensed the Akida NPU IP for space applications, showcasing the versatility and potential of BrainChip's innovative technology. Additionally, BrainChip has introduced the Akida Pico to the market, expanding the reach of neuromorphic AI solutions to a broader audience.
Sean Hehir, the CEO of BrainChip, emphasized the significance of this partnership, highlighting the real-world impact of integrating Akida technology into wearable devices like the seizure prediction glasses developed by Onsor. Hehir stated, “This collaboration is not just about technology; it's about creating tangible solutions that can make a meaningful difference in people's lives."
