Ceva, ARM, and SynaXG have joined forces in a strategic collaboration focused on developing cutting-edge 5G satellite chips. The partnership, unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, brings together the Ceva Penta-5G platform with the ARM Neoverse N2 mid-range core to enhance 5G New Radio (NR) processing in both wireless network equipment and satellites. These advanced chips will be powered by the SynaXG carrier-grade RAN software, promising a new era of efficiency and performance in the telecommunications industry.

One of the key advantages of this collaboration is the significant boost in efficiency it offers for baseband processing. The new chips are expected to deliver 10 times better efficiency compared to traditional solutions and a remarkable 20 times improvement over the FPGA-based alternatives commonly used today. This leap in efficiency will pave the way for the development of more compact, lighter, and energy-efficient LEO satellites and terrestrial 5G-Advanced infrastructure components.

According to Panch Chandrasekaran, Director of Segment Marketing, Infrastructure Line of Business at ARM, the collaboration with Ceva and SynaXG sets a new standard for energy-efficient processing in wireless infrastructure and 5G-advanced solutions. The ARM Neoverse N2 core, specifically designed to enable partners like Ceva to create innovative solutions, is poised to revolutionize workload-specific performance and efficiency in the industry.

Mantosh Malhotra, Chief Business Officer at SynaXG, emphasized the transformative nature of the partnership by integrating their comprehensive 5G NR software suite with the high-performance and power-efficient capabilities of ARM Neoverse and Ceva platforms. This integration aims to establish a new benchmark for efficiency and sustainability in 5G-Advanced infrastructure, driving the evolution of 5G and fostering the development of environmentally friendly wireless networks.

With Ceva contributing its PentaG-RAN baseband processing platform, ARM providing the Neoverse N2 core, and SynaXG delivering its advanced software stack, the collaboration promises a holistic approach to 5G baseband design. The Ceva PentaG-RAN platform, known for its RF front-end agnostic nature, is well-suited for the development of 5G-Advanced systems targeting both mmWave and sub-6-GHz networks. This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in the quest for more efficient and sustainable 5G infrastructure.
