UK-based Bare Conductive, a pioneer in conductive ink technology, has made the decision to close its operations in order to shift its focus towards its spin-out sensor business, Laiier.
Established in 2011, Bare Conductive initially entered the market by offering conductive inks, stemming from a collaborative project between the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in 2009, aimed at developing flexible electronic sensor systems for prototyping.
Addressing the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, Bare Conductive faced disruptions in the supply chain, escalating costs, and geopolitical changes, prompting a strategic reassessment of its business model. The company acknowledged that amidst these obstacles, new opportunities emerged, particularly in the realm of advanced sensor technologies, which began to overshadow its consumer-centric product lines by 2020.
As a result of this strategic shift, Laiier, a sensor-focused company, was officially launched in 2021, with a clear mission to develop precise, scalable, and mission-critical sensor solutions aimed at preventing damage and downtime caused by leaks in buildings and industrial equipment.
Highlighting the continuity of its commitment to customers, Bare Conductive announced that RS Components will continue to serve as the official distributor, offering the remaining inventory of products such as Electric Paint and Touch Boards until supplies are exhausted. Additionally, project resources will remain accessible online until June 5, 2025, ensuring that users can still benefit from the existing knowledge base.
“Laiier represents a natural progression from the technical expertise and innovative spirit that defined Bare Conductive. Our focus now extends towards making a significant impact on industries and the environment by addressing critical challenges such as damage prevention, cost reduction, and sustainability,” emphasized the team behind the transition.
