Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH has introduced the latest version of its TXZ+™ advanced class microcontroller motor control software tool and firmware, known as MCU Motor Studio 4.0 (MMS). This update brings a range of enhancements to the software, including the addition of bare-metal configurations for all supported devices, enabling usage without a real-time operating system. The update also expands the MCU coverage to include the latest TMPM4KNF10x group, providing users with even more options for motor control applications.

One of the key new features in this release is the support for a change-down stage, which allows for a seamless transition from vector control to sine-wave commutation (Force mode). Additionally, a PWM shift-2 enhancement has been implemented for 1-shunt current sensing, making it applicable to both vector engine (VE) based hardware control and software-implemented Field-Oriented Control (FOC). Other new features include direction change and reverse rotation with flux observer-based FOC, as well as a "STOP Brake" mode.

MCU Motor Studio 4.0 also introduces a free-run digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) for continuous real-time logging of up to four parameters. This complements the existing DSO one-shot real-time logging feature, which is designed for shorter time intervals with a pre-defined number of samples and sampling rate. These logging capabilities provide users with valuable insights into the performance of their motor control systems.

Users can now download MCU Motor Studio 4.0 from the Toshiba website, with compatibility for Windows 11. A future update is planned to integrate Motor Tuning Studio (MTS) as a standalone library within MMS 4.0. This integration will allow users to access the features of both tools through a single graphical user interface (GUI), streamlining the motor control development process.

Furthermore, MIKROE is set to release the Clicker 4 Inverter Shield 2, the newest addition to the Clicker 4 series of extension boards. This new extension board will be fully supported in MCU Motor Studio 4.0, providing users with additional options for expanding the capabilities of their motor control systems. With these updates and enhancements, Toshiba continues to empower developers and engineers with advanced tools for motor control applications.
