Omron Electronic Components Europe has introduced a new compact DC power relay designed specifically for inrush protection in battery-charging systems with voltages up to 800V. The G9EJH-1-E features SPST (single-pole single-throw) normally open contacts and has dimensions of 31mm x 27mm, standing at 30mm high. This relay meets the IEC 60664 insulation distance specification, ensuring compliance with the strict reliability and safety standards required for battery energy-storage systems (ESS) and electric vehicle (EV) on-board chargers.

With a coil-operating voltage of 12V, the G9EJH-1-E is well-suited for integration in various systems such as pre-charging, auxiliary power, and main charging systems in hybrid and electric vehicles (EV/PHEV) that utilize 800V fast charging technology. The relay is capable of handling a sustained current of 15A and can manage inrush currents of up to 30A with a release time of 30ms, effectively safeguarding the battery system.

Housed in a 6-pin PCB-mount package, this relay is compatible with automated manufacturing processes, providing flexibility for assemblers and simplifying field repairs. The mechanical lifetime of the G9EJH-1-E is rated for over 200,000 operations, and it is designed to operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. This makes it ideal for use in on-board chargers (OBC), electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE), and grid-connected energy-storage (BESS) applications.
