Meech International has introduced the 906 Hyperion 24V Power Supply Unit, a compact and intelligent high-voltage AC power solution tailored for static management applications in industrial settings, with a specific focus on battery manufacturing environments. This new PSU serves as a replacement for the company’s previous 904 and 905 AC power supplies, offering advanced energy management features, remote control capabilities, and enhanced reliability to meet the demands of high-demand scenarios.

For readers of eeNews Europe, especially those involved in gigafactory development or energy storage production lines, the 24-VDC-powered PSU could prove invaluable in addressing persistent challenges related to static control, contamination risk, and equipment durability in challenging environments.

Static Control for Precision and Safety

Static electricity presents significant risks in battery cell production, where even minuscule contaminants can result in yield losses or catastrophic failures. The manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries in ultra-dry environments is particularly susceptible to electrostatic discharge (ESD), which can attract metallic particles to electrodes or separators, heightening the likelihood of internal short circuits and thermal incidents.

The 906 Hyperion PSU from Meech facilitates precise power delivery to AC ionization and cleaning systems utilized to neutralize charges and eliminate contaminants throughout critical battery production processes like slitting, winding, and coating. By transitioning from conventional AC inputs to a 24VDC supply, the new PSU offers enhanced power stability, improved integration with contemporary control systems, and reduced vulnerability to voltage fluctuations.

906 Hyperion in Demanding Production Environments

The 906 PSU boasts universal compatibility, accepting 24-VDC input from standard power adapters worldwide. It supports adjustable output ranging from 2 to 7kVAC and can power up to four Meech AC ionization devices concurrently, making it versatile across various industrial applications.

Smart functionalities include remote monitoring, health diagnostics, and standby mode, all geared towards minimizing downtime and energy consumption. For customers transitioning from other Meech units, the new model offers backward-compatible mounting and a compact footprint to simplify installation within existing equipment configurations.

The unit has undergone rigorous testing to operate in harsh conditions, including factory temperatures exceeding 40°C and humidity levels up to 85%. Equipped with built-in temperature sensors and fault monitoring, the PSU can trigger automated shutdowns and remote alerts, facilitating predictive maintenance.

“With the introduction of the new 906 Hyperion 24V PSU, manufacturers can anticipate a unit that delivers power with precision to ensure processes run reliably and efficiently, streamlining the day-to-day management of static control in demanding environments such as battery manufacturing,” stated Ian Atkinson, Sales Director at Meech. “We have extensively tested the unit in challenging conditions and meticulously refined it to seamlessly integrate into our customers’ operational practices, regardless of their location worldwide.”

The 906 Hyperion PSU is now available for deployment on a global scale.
