IAR expands embedded development platform with LTS services

IAR has recently announced the expansion of its Embedded Development Platform to include new Long-Term Support (LTS) Services tailored for companies involved in building safety-critical systems with extended product lifecycles. This strategic move is particularly beneficial for industries like automotive, industrial automation, and medical technology, where software maintenance and updates are required for many years after a product is launched into production.

The introduction of LTS Services addresses a significant challenge in embedded development, focusing on the necessity of maintaining stable and reproducible toolchains throughout the operational lifespan of a product. Ensuring toolchain stability over long lifecycles

The newly launched LTS Services have been meticulously crafted to ensure continuity for functional safety toolchains, enabling development teams to sustain stable environments during prolonged maintenance phases. Customers availing of these services will also benefit from validated service packs, structured known-issue reporting, and prioritized technical support. The overarching objective is to aid development teams in mitigating lifecycle risks while upholding stable environments in safety-critical deployments that endure for extended periods. In certain scenarios, IAR may continue support under a Limited LTS framework, offering technical assistance and issue reporting without introducing additional service packs.
