The Taurus Series, developed by Trident IoT, is set to revolutionize the world of IoT with its cutting-edge Z-Wave capabilities. According to co-founder Bill Scheffler, this silicon series and SDK will be the first to implement the ZWLR European specification, paving the way for accelerated IoT product development on a global scale.

Featuring an ARM Cortex-M33 microprocessor, 1MB of flash program memory, and 288KB of SRAM data memory, Taurus Series chips offer exceptional processing power and response time. The powerful sub-GHz radios can transmit at up to +20 dBm and +14 dBm, enabling seamless communication over distances exceeding 1 mile.

One of the key highlights of Taurus chips is their support for Z-Wave Plus, Z-Wave Plus v2, and ZWLR, allowing for the creation of highly secure, reliable, scalable, and backwards-compatible solutions across various sectors such as smart homes, hospitality, and multi-dwelling units. With the ability to support networks of up to 4000 nodes using the ZWLR 12-bit addressing space, the Taurus Series also boasts impressive battery life of up to ten years from a single coin-cell battery, thanks to ZWLR dynamic power control.

Avi Rosenthal, Z-Wave Alliance Chairman of the Board, expressed excitement about the potential of ZWLR technology to enhance IoT applications while maintaining compatibility with existing Z-Wave devices. The collaboration between Z-Wave Alliance and Trident IoT aims to empower more members to leverage ZWLR capabilities, facilitating the rapid introduction of innovative products to the global market.

To expedite the time-to-market process, Trident IoT will provide comprehensive engineering consultation for products integrating Taurus Series silicon. Customers will have access to the Taurus Series SDK as well as a specialized library of Z-Wave and ZWLR device and sensor reference designs, designed to accelerate the development of cutting-edge edge-of-property applications.
