SPARK Microsystems – SR1000

Canada

The SPARK SR1000 UWB IC family takes full advantage of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to simultaneously deliver industry-leading energy efficiency, latency and bandwidth:

– Data rates of up to 10 Mbps @ 1.5 nJ/bit energy efficiency
– 2 mW power consumption while transmitting and receiving 1 Mbps, scaling to 6 uW at 1 kbps
– Ultra-short wireless latency (50 µs for 1 kb)
– Time-of-flight positioning at 30 cm accuracy

The SPARK SR1000 family consists of two products:

SR1010: 3.1 – 6 GHz Band
SR1020: 6 – 9.25 GHz Band

SR1010

The SR1010 is a digitally programmable UWB wireless transceiver. It transmits in the license-free UWB spectrum from 3.1 – 5.8 GHz by using short impulses that enable highly robust and energy efficient communications. The transceiver allows for the dynamic shaping of its output spectrum to comply with international UWB emission limits or tailor its emissions to a wide range of spectral masks. The circuits are aggressively duty cycled to enable ultra low power operation. The ASIC is composed of an impulse radio with an RF transmitter and receiver, power management unit, sleep counter and digital / baseband hardware. The ASIC communicates over an SPI interface to an MCU running the link layer. The SR1010 can achieve ultra-low power consumption within a wide range of data rates making it a highly versatile solution. It is an excellent solution for wireless applications that benefit from high degrees of energy efficiency, short latency, versatile operation or robust communications.

SR1020

The SR1020 is a digitally programmable UWB wireless transceiver. It transmits in the license-free UWB spectrum from 6.0 – 9.3 GHz by using short impulses that enable highly robust and energy efficient communications. The transceiver allows for the dynamic shaping of its output spectrum to comply with international UWB emission limits or tailor its emissions to a wide range of spectral masks.
