Xiaomi has solidified its partnership with Infineon Technologies, a key supplier in its transition from smartphones to electric vehicles. The collaboration involves Infineon providing silicon carbide (SiC) power modules, specifically the HybridPACK Drive G2 CoolSiC and bare die products, to Xiaomi EV for its SU7 model until 2027. This move signifies Xiaomi's commitment to embracing the electric car market and leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance performance.

The utilization of CoolSiC power modules in Xiaomi's electric vehicles allows for higher operating temperatures, leading to improved performance, driving dynamics, and overall lifetime. These modules play a crucial role in enhancing traction inverters, which can ultimately contribute to extending the range of electric vehicles. Infineon's HybridPACK Drive, a renowned power module family for electric vehicles, has already seen significant success with over 8.5 million units sold since 2017.

Aside from power modules, Infineon also supplies Xiaomi EV with a diverse range of products per car, including EiceDRIVER gate drivers and multiple microcontrollers for various applications. The collaboration between the two companies extends beyond the current deal, with plans to further explore SiC automotive applications to maximize the benefits of Infineon's SiC portfolio.

Zhenyu Huang, Vice President of Xiaomi EV and General Manager of the Supply Chain Department, expressed the importance of the partnership, stating, "Infineon is an important partner with leading technologies and resilient manufacturing capabilities in power semiconductors. The cooperation between the two companies will not only stabilize the supply of silicon carbide for Xiaomi EV but also help us build high-performance, safe, and reliable luxury cars for our customers."

Peter Schiefer, President of Infineon's Automotive division, emphasized the significance of collaborating with innovative companies like Xiaomi EV to enhance the performance of electric cars. With Infineon's extensive product portfolio, system expertise, and multi-site manufacturing base, the company is well-positioned to shape the future of mobility and drive advancements in the automotive industry.
