Stewart Connector, a leading provider of connectivity solutions, has unveiled a new line of jacks and cables specifically designed for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) applications in smart buildings. This innovative technology enables both data and power transmission through Power over Data Line (PoDL) at speeds of up to 1000Base-T1 over a single pair of copper wires. The compact and lightweight design of SPE components simplifies installations and offers greater reach compared to traditional 4 pair wiring systems.
The newly introduced SPE jacks and cables comply with the connectivity component standard IEC 63171-1, making them ideal for smart buildings and building automation projects. These versatile components can be seamlessly integrated into various systems including Ethernet switches, HVAC controls, sensors, intelligent lighting setups, security systems, and access controllers.
Tim Kurten, the Product Manager at Bel Fuse, the parent company of Stewart Connector, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of these cutting-edge SPE components. "By introducing our latest SPE products, we aim to provide engineers and system designers with enhanced efficiency and flexibility in implementing smart building automation solutions," Kurten stated.
Featuring an operational temperature range of -20 to +60 degrees Celsius, the SPE jacks support multiple transmission standards including 1000Base-T1, 100Base-T1, 10Base-T1L, and 10Base-T1S. The shielded design of these components ensures superior EMC performance, while their construction from UL 94V-0 Halogen Free plastic components guarantees compliance with RoHS regulations.
Stewart Connector offers these SPE jacks and cables in convenient tape and reel packaging, allowing for easy customization of cable lengths ranging from 5 to 15 meters based on specific project requirements. Additionally, an optional light pipe for port status indicators can be included when using the components in conjunction with a PCB mount LED.
