Milrem Robotics and AEC Skyline have recently collaborated to integrate StarLink satellite communications technology into the THeMIS Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), revolutionizing the way these robotic vehicles can be controlled over long distances.

By incorporating StarLink into the THeMIS Cargo CASEVAC, the unmanned combat support vehicles can now be safely deployed to the battlefield, such as the current deployment in Ukraine. This advancement allows operators to remain at a secure distance, even thousands of kilometers away, ensuring enhanced safety and efficiency in military operations.

Milrem Robotics has been making significant strides in UGV development, establishing centers across Europe to further expand their capabilities in this field. The UGV currently deployed in Ukraine is being utilized for tasks such as carrying supplies, evacuating casualties, and route clearance.

The integration of StarLink's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites enables the robotic vehicle to seamlessly transmit data, receive commands, and relay vital information in real-time, regardless of its location on the battlefield. This breakthrough in communication technology enhances the UGV's operational effectiveness and situational awareness.

The upcoming unveiling of the Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) controlling capability during Eurosatory 2024 in Paris, France, next week is highly anticipated. Raul Rikk, the Capability Development Director at Milrem Robotics, expressed his excitement about this development, stating, "This marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of military robotics, offering unparalleled capabilities for remote operation and situational awareness."
