Speakers from Infineon Technologies and an AI startup are set to deliver captivating keynotes at the upcoming Design and Verification Conference & Exhibition Europe.

Thomas Boehm, Senior Vice President and General Manager Microcontroller Automotive at Infineon, and Erik Norden, Chief Technology Officer of a stealth start-up, will be headlining DVCon Europe 2024 in October.

Boehm's keynote will focus on 'Dependable microcontroller architectures – challenges and opportunities in a fast-changing automotive market'. He will delve into market trends, addressing issues such as the growing complexity and integration of electronic control systems, the need for dependability, the rise of AI technologies, and scalability to meet cost targets for affordable vehicles. Additionally, he will shed light on the significance of open source technologies for future hardware and software designs.

Norden's presentation, 'Next 10x in AI – System, Silicon, Algorithms, Data', will offer a comprehensive view of the evolving AI landscape. He will provide engineers with a roadmap for navigating and contributing to the future of AI acceleration and its applications. The discussion will cover efficient codesign for accelerated computing, highlighting techniques like flash attention, quantization, and compression. Norden will also explore emerging trends such as retrieval-augmented Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal systems, emphasizing the importance of data quality and training methods.

Mark Burton, general chair of the DVCon Europe steering committee, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming keynotes, stating, “DVCon Europe has a history of pivotal keynotes, and I’m confident this year will be no exception. We have two speakers who are truly at the forefront of our industry, particularly in the areas of Automotive and AI, which will be prominent themes throughout our conference.”

Boehm currently leads Infineon’s automotive microcontroller business unit, overseeing major product families like AURIX and TRAVEO. With a background that includes significant contributions to automotive semiconductors at Motorola, Freescale, and Infineon, he brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Norden, on the other hand, serves as the CTO of an AI startup and advises a robotics start-up. His impressive career highlights include spearheading the development of the Neural Engine at Apple and playing a key role in advancing the Tensor Processing Unit architecture at Google. With experience at Nvidia, Intel, and Infineon, Norden is a seasoned expert in the field.

The conference and exhibition, sponsored by Accellera Systems Initiative, is scheduled to take place on October 15-16 at the Holiday Inn Munich. Early bird registration for the event is now open at dvcon-europe.org/registration, with discounted rates available until September 13th.
