COM Express module for AI and HPC applications

Tria Technologies, an Avnet company, has introduced the Tria™ C6C-RYZ8 COM Express Compact Type 6 module at Embedded World 2025. This new module is powered by the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 8000 Series processor, offering a significant performance boost compared to previous generations with AMD processors. The module is based on AMD’s Zen 4 CPU architecture, making it well-suited for AI-based applications.

According to Daniel Denzler, Senior Director and Business Line Manager at Tria Technologies, the compact module expands their COM product portfolio with high-performance x86 processors. Customers now have a wider range of choices across various industry standards and form factors, from OSM and SMARC to COM Express and COM-HPC, with diverse processor options and scalable compute performance.

The C6C-RYZ8 COM Express Compact Type 6 module targets applications requiring high computational power, such as AI-enhanced edge computing, medical imaging, professional audio/video/lighting equipment, gaming platforms, and other demanding tasks. It leverages the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 8000 Series Processor and integrated AI accelerator (XDNA Neural Processing Unit) to deliver up to eight cores, 16 threads, and up to six RDNA3 work group processors (WGP) for graphics operations and media data conversion.

Featuring support for multiple screens, the space-efficient COM Express Compact form factor with Type 6 interface can accommodate up to 128GB of board memory, local NVMe storage, and versatile IO configurations. Denzler emphasized that this addition broadens the range of x86 compatible product options for customers, highlighting the widespread adoption of the COM Express Compact Type 6 standard across various applications.
