STMicroelectronics has unveiled the TSB192, a new dual operational amplifier designed for high-precision applications across a wide supply range. These devices offer a unique combination of low offset voltage and extended operating voltage, bridging the gap between traditional precision op amps and higher-voltage designs. This innovation is set to benefit professionals in industrial, automotive, and instrumentation design by simplifying analog front-end architectures and driving advancements in signal-conditioning components for mixed-signal systems.

The TSB192 dual op amps are capable of operating from 4V to 36V, a range that is often challenging to achieve without compromising precision. With an offset voltage of 20µV (maximum 30µV across the full temperature range) and a temperature drift of just 100nV/°C, these devices offer performance characteristics typically associated with low-voltage precision amplifiers. The inclusion of rail-to-rail outputs allows designers to optimize dynamic range, while the low current consumption of up to 1.9mA per channel can help extend battery life in portable devices. By minimizing offset and drift, these amplifiers reduce the need for compensation in signal-conditioning networks, streamlining system design.

These dual op amps are well-suited for a variety of applications, including industrial and automotive systems, healthcare devices, and consumer electronics where stable and repeatable analog performance is essential. STMicroelectronics positions the TSB192 for use in analog integrators and measurement circuits, such as temperature sensing, medical instrumentation, electronic scales, and industrial test equipment. With an 8MHz gain-bandwidth, 5V/µs slew rate, and low input noise of 11nV/√Hz, these devices support improved frequency response and reduced distortion.

The TSB192 amplifiers are ideal for amplifying signals from transducers, bridges, and strain gauges, as well as for precision active filters. Their operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C makes them suitable for automotive environments, while ESD protection up to 4kV HBM enhances their robustness. Currently available in SO-8 and MiniSO-8 packages, the TSB192 is priced starting at $1.06 in 1,000-piece volumes. STMicroelectronics plans to introduce an automotive-grade version later in 2026, further expanding its applicability to safety-critical and high-reliability applications.

In conclusion, the introduction of the TSB192 dual operational amplifier represents a significant advancement in the field of precision analog components. By offering a compelling combination of precision, wide supply range, and performance characteristics, these devices are poised to drive innovation in various industries and simplify the design of analog front-end systems. With a focus on high-precision applications and flexibility, the TSB192 amplifiers are set to play a key role in enhancing the performance and efficiency of analog signal processing in a wide range of electronic devices and systems.
