Bluefors and Delft Circuits have joined forces to introduce a comprehensive quantum input/output (I/O) solution tailored for the next generation of high-qubit quantum computers. By incorporating Delft Circuits’ Cri/oFlex® technology into Bluefors’ dilution refrigerators, customers now have access to a fully integrated and scalable I/O package right out of the box.
This collaboration directly tackles a major engineering challenge in quantum computing: the need for reliable, high-density wiring that can keep up with the rapid increase in qubit numbers. As quantum systems evolve from hundreds to thousands of qubits, the demand for flexible and dependable cabling has become paramount to ensure continuous progress. Bluefors’ initiative to pre-install and validate Cri/oFlex® in their cryogenic measurement systems aims to streamline integration processes, reduce costs, and deliver proven performance to customers.
Overcoming the scaling hurdle
The Cri/oFlex® solution offers a significant advancement by providing up to 50% more channels per side-loading port, allowing for a maximum of 1,536 input or control lines in a Bluefors XLDsl system. Additional lines can be incorporated through optional KF ports, utilizing a modular monolithic design that minimizes potential points of failure. A collaborative research paper by both companies has verified the performance of Cri/oFlex® with real qubits within Bluefors’ systems, further solidifying its reliability and efficiency.
“Delft Circuits is a pioneer in flexible cabling technology,” stated Rob Blaauwgeers, the interim CEO and founder of Bluefors. “Our extensive testing has demonstrated that their Cri/oFlex® solution not only matches the microwave performance of traditional coaxial solutions but also offers superior thermal capabilities. This partnership enables us to provide customers with a holistic, future-proof solution to expedite their quantum research and development efforts.”
Voices from the industry
Daan Kuitenbrouwer, co-founder of Delft Circuits, remarked, “Our Cri/oFlex® lines were purposefully designed to meet the requirements of scalable quantum systems, and this collaboration marks a significant milestone in the industrialization of quantum I/O on a large scale.” The partnership enhances Bluefors’ offerings for both research laboratories and commercial quantum developers, presenting a faster and more dependable pathway to achieving scalability in quantum computing.
