BoS Semiconductors in Korea is planning to launch an automotive neural network accelerator (NPU) chiplet at CES in January 2025.

BoS Semi has joined the UCIe Consortium which is building an ecosystem for chiplet interconnects. The BoS AI chiplet will be used alongside a system on chip and chiplets for ADAS advanced driving assistance to provide scalability.

As AI workloads have become central to automotive computing systems for autonomous driving and software defined vehicle (SDV) implementations, the need for a high-performance AI NPU core has become evident. At the same time, low-spec computing systems are also needed to sell a wide range of vehicles, BoS provides the chiplet SoC family to support different performance segments with one single ADAS SoC and additional NPU Accelerators.

BoS is a Korean start-up set up in 2022 and is led by Jaehong Park, a former Samsung Semiconductor Executive Vice President.

“We are very delighted to be a member of the UCIe consortium,” said Jaehong CEO and founder of BoS Semiconductors. “The chiplet offering is becoming more critical to our customers and we will deliver our own ADAS chiplet SoC family working with our industry leading partners.”

The company has been backed by Hyundai. “We expect BOS semiconductor to become one of our strategic partners, contributing to the competitive semiconductor technology of the Group’s future mobility,” said Hyundai.
