New Power Supplies from Cosel
Cosel, a leading power supply manufacturer, has introduced a new family of dc-dc power supplies that utilize GaN transistors, planar magnetics, and a modified fly-back topology. These advancements have allowed Cosel to shrink the size of their power supplies while maintaining high efficiency and performance.
The TE series, as it is called, consists of two models: the TECS45F and TEPS45F with a power output of 45W, and the TECS65F or TEPS65F with a power output of 65W. The TEPS versions have connections brought out to PCB pins and have a compact 1 x 2.3-inch footprint, while the TECS parts feature crimp style JST connectors and measure 1 x 3 inches.
"Taking the benefits of GaN performances in high frequency switching, it has been possible to deliver 45 and 65W in a 25.4 x 58.4mm max footprint at up to 93.5% efficiency. 12 and 24V output versions are able to deliver 140% power to sustain peak loads," according to the company. The standard products are delivered as an open frame, but an optional dust protection case will be available.
The input voltage range for these power supplies is single-phase 85 to 264Vac, and they meet certain safety standards across 100-240Vac, 50 or 60Hz. The 93.5% efficiency is measured at 230Vac and rated load. The operating temperature range is -10 to +70°C at any orientation, although derating may be required in some cases.
The TECS/TEPS45-65F units are ideal for Class II equipment and are able to achieve low noise performance without requiring any ground connection. At no load, the power consumption is as low as 200mW. The height of the 45W types is approximately 24mm, while the 65W types measure around 27mm.
These power supplies have UL62368-1 and c-UL approval, equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1, and comply with the Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act DEN-AN. They also comply with the RoHS and Low Voltage directives and carry the CE mark and UKCA.
Applications for the TE series power supplies are foreseen in various industries, including measurement and analysis equipment, machine tools, industrial printers, display equipment, and ticketing machines.
