The latest offerings from Vishay Dale, the commercial IHLL-1008AB-1Z and Automotive Grade IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A power inductors, have been designed to deliver exceptional performance in a compact form factor. These inductors stand out by achieving the same level of performance as the next-smallest IHLP® inductor while occupying 55% less space. Additionally, they boast higher operating temperatures of up to +165 °C, a wider range of inductance values, and lower DCR.
With inductance values ranging from 0.33 µH to 4.7 µH, the IHLL-1008AB-1Z features terminals plated on the bottom only, allowing for a smaller land pattern that facilitates more compact board spacing. On the other hand, the IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A comes with terminals plated on both the bottom and sides, enabling the formation of a solder fillet that enhances mounting strength against mechanical shock and simplifies solder joint inspection.
Both devices, which are AEC-Q200 qualified, offer reliable performance at temperatures up to +165 °C, surpassing the competition with a 10 °C higher threshold. The IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A's typical DCR can go as low as 12.0 mΩ, representing a 15% reduction compared to similar composite inductors. These inductors are built to outperform ferrite-based technologies, featuring a robust powdered iron body that encapsulates their windings entirely, eliminating air gaps and providing magnetic shielding against crosstalk.
