White Motorcycle Concepts (WMC) has made waves in the automotive industry with the launch of the world's first electric motorcycle that features a battery design shaped by aerodynamics. The innovative White WMC300E+ motorcycle boasts a powertrain and battery developed by Mahle, offering a remarkable 100-mile range and the ability to fast charge in just 15 minutes.

Robert White, the Founder & CEO of White Motorcycle Concepts, emphasized the significant technical and commercial challenges faced by the industry in creating an electric motorcycle that can rival its petrol-powered counterparts in terms of performance. The development of the 11.9 kWh battery pack, utilizing advanced Lithium Cobalt Oxide with Nickel Manganese Aluminium chemistry, represents a major leap forward.

One of the key features of the battery pack is its incorporation of Mahle Powertrain's M³x battery module concept, which includes a sophisticated cooling system to enhance cell thermal performance and ensure uniform temperature distribution across the pack. This design also provides protection against cell failure propagation, contributing to the battery's longevity.

Through a meticulous process of modeling, simulation, and prototyping, engineers from WMC and Mahle Powertrain arrived at a T-shaped battery pack configuration. This design not only centralizes mass for optimal vehicle dynamics but also maximizes aerodynamic efficiency, fitting seamlessly within the motorcycle's complex packaging constraints.

The integration of a DC-DC converter within the battery pack streamlines the overall system by directly connecting the traction motor, charger, and the bike's 12V system. This approach simplifies implementation and ensures efficient power distribution, catering to the specific needs of fleet customers, including emergency responders requiring high availability.
