Direct Insight, a systems integrator based in Oxfordshire, UK, has recently announced a strategic partnership with MicroSys Electronics, a leading provider of System-on-Modules (SoM) and Single Board Computers (SBC) based in Germany. This partnership is set to cover the UK and Ireland, bringing together the expertise and resources of both companies to better serve the embedded design market.
According to Direct Insight's CEO, David Pashley, a minority of embedded designs are developed in-house due to the high Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs involved. To address this challenge, the company's strategy focuses on advising development teams to leverage off-the-shelf hardware, software, and tools, even if they are unfamiliar with them. This approach aims to accelerate the design process and reduce the learning curve for designers.
MicroSys Electronics is known for its innovative miriac MPX module technology, which offers numerous benefits for SoM-based designs, including faster time-to-market, high design reliability, lower NRE costs, and cost-effective carrier boards. The miriac SoMs are based on NXP's S32G and Layerscape processor technology, aligning with Direct Insight's preference for NXP processors, particularly the iMX series.
"With support for NXP's S32G processor family, MicroSys shares our focus on automotive applications and safety-certified development standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC61508," stated Pashley, highlighting the synergy between the two companies in addressing the evolving needs of the market.
Ina Schindler, the managing director at MicroSys, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Direct Insight, emphasizing the importance of having a technically competent and application-focused design channel to support customers' requirements. With over two decades of experience in the UK, Ireland, and beyond, Direct Insight's established presence in the market makes them an ideal partner for MicroSys.
