Dolphin Design, a leading company based in France, has recently announced a strategic partnership with the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) in Germany. This collaboration is part of the EU's PREVAIL edge AI project, aimed at advancing artificial intelligence technologies for edge computing.

As part of the partnership, Dolphin Design will provide Fraunhofer IIS with its range of configurable power management intellectual property (IP) tailored for the Global Foundries 22FDX technology. These configurable designs are specifically optimized for edge AI applications, showcasing the commitment of both companies to innovation and cutting-edge technology.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to push the boundaries of power management in next-generation edge AI technologies through the PREVAIL project. This ambitious initiative brings together key players in the industry, including CEA-Leti, imec, Fraunhofer, and VTT, to develop a multi-hub platform for prototype 300mm chip fabrication and advanced technology integration.

The PREVAIL project, a cornerstone of the European Union's efforts to drive forward advanced edge AI technologies, holds the promise of revolutionizing various industries by enabling smarter and more efficient AI capabilities at the edge. By integrating Dolphin Design's innovative power management IPs, Fraunhofer IIS is poised to enhance the performance and efficiency of the AI systems developed within the project.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Fraunhofer IIS and contribute to the groundbreaking work underway in the PREVAIL project," expressed Hakim Jaafar, the Vice President of Marketing at Dolphin Design. "Our power management IP solutions are meticulously crafted to meet the rigorous demands of edge AI, and we are confident that this partnership will drive significant advancements in the field."

Dr. Markus Eppel, a group manager at Fraunhofer IIS, highlighted the synergies between Dolphin Design's power management IP and Fraunhofer's analog mixed-signal inference accelerators and software toolchain for neuromorphic computing. This combination creates a robust solution for deploying neural networks at the edge, underscoring the potential for transformative impact through the PREVAIL framework.

In addition to its collaboration with Fraunhofer IIS, Dolphin Design is also known for supplying power management IP to Raspberry Pi, further solidifying its position as a key player in the industry. The partnership between Dolphin Design and Fraunhofer IIS represents a significant step forward in the realm of edge AI, with the potential to drive innovation and shape the future of artificial intelligence technologies.
