Lattice Semiconductor has recently unveiled two new FPGA devices, the Certus-NX-28 and Certus-NX-09, which are designed on a low power FD-SOI process and optimized for logic applications. These devices come with multiple FPGA package options, catering to different needs in terms of logic cells, embedded memory, and cell densities. The Certus-NX series is targeted at a wide range of industries including communications, telecoms, industrial applications, and automotive.

The FD-SOI process used in these devices offers a significant reduction in power consumption, making them ideal for battery-powered applications. With a core voltage of 1.0V, the devices provide improved energy efficiency and simpler thermal management, ultimately leading to a smaller form factor. The Certus-NX-28 and Certus-NX-09 are packaged in a compact 6 x 6mm cfsBGA121 with 77 I/Os and 81 I/Os respectively, offering flexibility and scalability for different applications.

Lattice Semiconductor's commitment to innovation in small, low power FPGAs is evident in the development of the Certus-NX series. Dan Mansur, Corporate Vice President of Product Marketing at Lattice Semiconductor, emphasized the company's dedication to providing optimized solutions for space-constrained applications, ranging from sensor interfacing to low power AI. The addition of more migratable logic and package options in the Certus-NX devices further enhances their appeal in industrial applications.

Industry leaders have expressed their support for Lattice's new FPGA offerings. Alberto Martin-Consuegra, VP Operations & Quality at ABB Process Automation, commended the low power and small footprint of the Certus-NX devices, highlighting their importance in industrial applications requiring high reliability. Similarly, Reinhard Heizmann, Head of Distance Sensors R&D at SICK in Germany, praised the devices for their optimized memory/LUT footprint, low power density, small packages, and migration options, all of which are crucial for sensor applications.

The Certus-NX FPGA devices are now available for shipping and are fully supported by the latest release of Lattice Radiant design software. This move signifies Lattice Semiconductor's continuous efforts to provide cutting-edge solutions to meet the evolving needs of the industry, particularly in the realm of small, low power FPGAs.
