Everspin Technologies, a leading provider of Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) solutions, has announced a new partnership with Frontgrade Technologies to develop a radiation-hard macro of its MRAM persistent memory specifically designed for space applications. This collaboration, valued at $9.25 million, will leverage Everspin's PERSYST embedded MRAM technology, logic design, and back-end-of-line manufacturing services to create a Strategic Radiation Hardened (SRH) high-reliability eMRAM macro.

The partnership aims to address the growing demand for advanced memory solutions in the aerospace and defense sectors. By integrating Everspin's cutting-edge MRAM technology with Frontgrade's expertise in space applications, the companies seek to enhance the performance and reliability of future products developed at Skywater.

Sanjeev Aggarwal, President and CEO of Everspin Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "Everspin is pleased to work with Frontgrade on a custom Radiation Hardened Spin Transfer Torque MRAM program. This project marks a significant milestone in our decade-long relationship and will broaden the applications of MRAM in defense and aerospace radiation-hardened use cases."

The partnership with Frontgrade aligns with the strategic objectives of the US Department of Defense (DoD) to enhance the resilience and performance of space systems. The eMRAM macro developed through this collaboration will be manufactured using the Skywater RH90 CMOS process in Bloomington, Minnesota, and Everspin's back-end-of-line MRAM process in Chandler, Arizona.

While the initial phase of the contract is valued at $1.25 million, the agreement allows for future optional phases that could bring the total value up to $9.25 million over multiple years. This long-term commitment underscores the importance of advancing MRAM technology for critical space applications and underscores Everspin's position as a key player in the memory solutions market.
