Innoscience opens up China front in Infineon patent battle

Innoscience has filed a lawsuit against Infineon Technologies and its subsidiaries in China alleging infringement of two patents on power chips.

This follows an expanded lawsuit by Infineon against the company in the US. Innoscience also lost a patent case against EPC in the US.

Innoscience went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and along with its wholly-owned subsidiary Innoscience (Suzhou) Semiconductor  have filed a lawsuit against Infineon Technologies (China), Infineon Technologies (Wuxi) and distributor Suzhou Xinwoko Electronic Technology.

The case in the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangsu Province covers patent 202311774650.7 on gallium nitride (GaN) power chips and patent 202211387983.X for a nitride-based chip.

“After technical comparison, the plaintiff believes that the infringing products involved in the case fall within the protection scope of the patent involved in the case. The three defendants promised to sell, sell and import the infringing products involved in the case without the plaintiff’s permission, which constitutes an infringement of the patent involved in the case. According to the law, they should bear corresponding legal responsibilities, including stopping the infringement and bearing compensation liability,” said Innoscience.

Infineon has its own GaN developments and patents as well as device technology acquired with GaN Systems in 2023. Infineon has been approached for comment.
