Isolation Transformer with 8mm Clearance

Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components, has recently introduced its second-generation AECQ-200 High Clearance/Creepage Distance Isolation Power Transformer series.

The AEC-Q200 compliant HCT8xxxxEAL is a push-pull high voltage isolation transformer with reinforced insulation designed to handle working voltages up to 800 V and basic insulation for working voltages up to 1000 V.

One of the key advantages of the Bourns Model HCT8xxxEAL Series is the inclusion of a separate reinforced insulating layer that provides protection against dangerous voltages. This feature sets it apart from other isolation transformers in the market that only offer functional insulation. Designers can now more effectively meet safety and reliability requirements with these advanced transformers, making them ideal for applications in automotive Battery Management Systems (BMS), RS-485, CAN interface, digital input module, and RS-323 isolation designs.

Bourns has recently acquired a German magnetics maker, further enhancing its expertise in the field of high-quality electronic components.

The high voltage isolation transformers in the HCT8xxxxEAL Series support input voltages of 3.3 or 5 V, delivering various output voltages per turn (up to 350 mA in different turns ratio configurations). These transformers are manufactured using a fully automated production line to ensure maximum device quality and reliability. Bourns has incorporated its innovative over-molding technology in the design, utilizing cost-effective FIW wire to achieve superior efficiency.

In addition to the 8 mm minimum clearance/creepage distance for reinforced isolation from high voltage hazards, the transformer series complies with IEC 62368-1 and IEC 61558-1 standards. Bourns specifically developed these transformers for isolation power supplies utilizing Texas Instruments Model SN6501 and SN6505 transformer drivers.
