Keysight Technologies has partnered with a test provider in Germany to enhance its Automotive Ethernet Receiver Compliance test by adding support for MultiGBASE-T1 data rates. The Receiver Test compliance software for Automotive Ethernet MultiGBASE-T1 now features a custom Noise Injection Fixture designed to accommodate the next technology wave for automotive in-vehicle networks.

This collaborative effort involved the development of the system with BitifEye in Germany and US test adapter maker Wilder Technologies in Vancouver, Washington. The goal was to address the increasing demand for high-resolution camera and radar systems, along with high-bandwidth networking capabilities required by advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) in modern vehicles.

The IEEE 802.3ch and Open Alliance TC15 standards play a crucial role in meeting the needs of software-defined vehicles (SDV) in the future. To support these standards, Keysight and its partners have expanded the test system with the custom noise injection fixture, enhancing device and system validation processes.

Moreover, the updated system offers new test automation tools that are essential for testing receivers in the evolving SDV zonal architectures. By providing the necessary hardware, software, cables, and accessories for compliance and design characterization testing, engineers can effectively stress-test and validate receiver performance in challenging automotive environments while ensuring compliance with IEEE 802.3ch and Open Alliance TC15 standards.

One of the key features of the test framework is its ability to automatically execute Ethernet PHY tests for receiver compliance. The custom test fixture plays a critical role by coupling noise to an active link to stress the receiver, while the Keysight arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) generates noise profiles for accurate and repeatable measurements.
