MetisX, a leading technology company specializing in high-speed CPU-to-memory connections in data centers, has successfully raised an additional US$44 million in Series A funding. This brings the total raised by the company since its formation in January 2022 to an impressive US$50 million. CXL, the open standard developed by MetisX, is designed for high-speed CPU-to-memory connections in data centers. While based on PCI Express, CXL supports coherent pooling of memory resources for applications such as AI and machine learning. The company has completed prototypes specialized in large-scale data processing, including vector databases, big data analysis, and DNA analysis. MetisX is now gearing up to manufacture its inaugural ASIC chip in early 2025, with a focus on targeting major data center customers. The company also has plans to establish a branch in the US and strengthen its marketing and sales organization to expand its reach in the market. In a statement regarding the successful funding round, Jin Kim, CEO and co-founder of MetisX, expressed his satisfaction, saying, "We are pleased to have successfully achieved our Series A funding goal amidst a challenging market environment. Our goal is to become the next Nvidia, not by competing directly against them, but by creating a new market in the data-centric domain to pave the way for the AI era." Prior to founding MetisX, Jin Kim held a prominent position as one of the youngest vice presidents at SK Hynix, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience in data-centric solutions. The company's CTO, Dohun Kim, and chief product officer, Harry Kim, also contribute their expertise from backgrounds at major semiconductor companies.
