Vector in Germany has launched a charging and load management system that provides optimal distribution of available energy across connected charging stations and vehicles.

This can allow for faster scaling of charging parks with equipment from multiple suppliers which has been a key issue for the rollout of EV infrastructure.

The vCharM charging and load management software is particularly relevant in environments with multiple charging stations where simultaneous use of many charging points can quickly lead to bottlenecks or power supply overloads.

The software implements the recent OCPP 2.1 standard which also enables bi-directional charging. vCharM shifts the charging processes to more affordable times and the e-vehicles are still fully charged. Using dynamic tariffs saves up to twenty percent on electricity costs.

  • Open source stack for EV charger developers

This allows operators of charging parks to integrate charging stations from various brands without the need for synchronizing login data or additional administrative effort. This is typically a time-consuming synchronization of login data between charging stations and the backend. A Web-based interface enables the management of multiple locations and only gives on-site personnel access rights for the respective vehicles and charging stations.

“E-mobility is a key component of the future of mobility for us,” says Christian Witt, Product Manager at Vector. “With vCharM, we are contributing to making the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles smarter and more scalable. The easy integration of new charging stations enables our customers to expand their charging parks quickly and efficiently. This not only improves workflows for charging station installers but also shortens the time to commission the charging infrastructure.”

vCharM is available to both new and existing customers.
