Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage has introduced two new multiplexer/demultiplexer (Mux/De-Mux) switches designed for emerging high-speed differential applications like PCIe 5.0, USB4, and USB4 Ver.2.

The newly launched Toshiba TDS4A212MX and TDS4B212MX mux/demux switches are specifically targeted at PC, server equipment, and mobile device designs that will utilize PCIe 5.0 technology. The TDS4A212MX offers a 2-input 1-output Mux switch, while the TDS4B212MX provides a 1-input 2-output De-Mux switch.

These switches leverage Toshiba's proprietary silicon on insulator TarfSOI process to achieve impressive differential bandwidths of 27.5GHz for TDS4B212MX and 26.2GHz for TDS4A212MX. This enables the switches to function effectively as Mux/De-Mux switches for high-speed differential signals such as PCIe 5.0, USB4, USB4 Ver.2, CXL2.0, Thunderbolt4, and DisplayPort2.0.

It's worth noting that TDS4B212MX and TDS4A212MX come with distinct pin assignments. The TDS4B212MX is optimized for high-frequency characteristics, while the TDS4A212MX features a pin assignment that takes into consideration circuit board layout requirements.

Both switches boast a current consumption (Iope) of 150μA (maximum) and are currently available in a compact XQFN16 package measuring 2.4mm x 1.6mm with a height of 0.4mm.
