The Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) Report has revealed that billings for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Q3 fell by 11% year-on-year to $25.6 billion. Additionally, there was a 1% decline in billings compared to the previous quarter.

SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha attributed the Q3 2023 dip in equipment billings to softening chip demand. However, he also highlighted China's strong demand and spending power for mature-node technologies, which indicates the industry's resilience and long-term growth potential.

The WWSEMS Report is compiled from data submitted by members of SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ). It provides a summary of the monthly billings figures for the global semiconductor equipment industry.

Here are the quarterly billings data in billions of U.S. dollars, along with the quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes by region:

Region Q3 Billings (in billions of U.S. dollars) Quarter-over-Quarter Change Year-over-Year Change
North America XX XX XX
Europe XX XX XX
Japan XX XX XX
China XX XX XX
Rest of the World XX XX XX

While the Q3 billings for semiconductor manufacturing equipment experienced a decline, the industry remains optimistic about its long-term growth prospects. The softening chip demand was a contributing factor to the decrease, but China's strong demand and spending power for mature-node technologies provide hope for the future.

The WWSEMS Report, compiled from data submitted by industry organizations, offers valuable insights into the global semiconductor equipment industry. It serves as a comprehensive summary of the monthly billings figures, allowing industry professionals to stay informed about market trends and developments.
