Qblox, a quantum technology company based in the Netherlands, has successfully secured $26 million in funding for its innovative control electronics and software designed for quantum computers with thousands of qubits, specifically tailored for industrial applications.
The heart of Qblox's technology lies in its control stack, known as the Cluster, which seamlessly integrates the electronics required for qubit control and readout. This modular solution is versatile, catering to a wide range of customers and technology-agnostic qubit platforms, setting it apart in the quantum computing landscape.
The Series A funding round was led by prominent investors including Quantonation and the Invest-NL Deep Tech fund, with additional contributions from QDNL participations and the European Innovation Council (EIC). This substantial investment will empower Qblox, which boasts a team of over 95 professionals, to further expand its research and development efforts and expedite product development.
According to Niels Bultink, the co-founder and CEO of Qblox, "This Series A funding marks a significant milestone in Qblox's journey to drive quantum innovation forward. It has always been clear to us that quantum technology should be seen as a value chain where we work with dedication on one crucial layer of the stack, currently serving over one hundred customers."
Bultink further added, "Almost uniquely in the industry, this has allowed us to grow the company exponentially fueled by revenue rather than investments. With our first equity investment, we secure our long-term growth, positioning Qblox as the enabler for industrial-scale quantum systems."
Oliver Tonneau, Partner of Quantonation, expressed his excitement about the investment, stating, "We have closely followed Qblox's impressive journey over the past four years. Their achievements have been remarkable, and we are thrilled to invest in Qblox alongside Invest NL to help accelerate their transition to the industrial market."
He continued, "Their expertise in control stack development, and their unique modular and scalable technology make them a standout player in the field. We look forward to seeing the impact of this investment on their continued progress."
Invest-NL also shared their perspective on the investment, with Yvonne Greeuw, Investment Manager, emphasizing the importance of investing in quantum technology to pioneer complex solutions for societal challenges. Greeuw stated, "We believe that Qblox is well-positioned to shape the future of quantum computing."
