SemiQ, a leading semiconductor company based in the US, has recently introduced a known-good-die (KGD) screening program specifically designed for its silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET devices. This new initiative aims to enhance the quality and reliability of the 1200V SiC MOSFETs by delivering electrically sorted and optically inspected dies that are ready for back-end processing and direct die attachment on boards and modules.

The KGD screening process implemented by SemiQ ensures that the electrical parameters of the SiC MOSFETs remain consistent, enabling customers to achieve repeatable performance and high end-of-line yield when integrating these devices into equipment such as high-voltage supplies, traction inverters, and power conditioning systems. Additionally, the uniform die parameters simplify the connection of multiple devices in high-power modules, further enhancing the overall efficiency and reliability of the system.

Michael Tsang, the Vice President of Product Engineering and Operations at SemiQ, emphasized the significance of SiC technology in driving global sustainability efforts. He highlighted the key performance advantages offered by the known-good-die SiC MOSFETs, including near-constant junction capacitance, low insertion loss, and high isolation, which are essential for high-frequency applications.

Through the KGD program, customers can now access quality-assured dies that not only streamline production processes but also improve productivity. The program ensures predictable and repeatable performance in high-efficiency applications, providing a competitive edge to businesses operating in diverse sectors such as automotive, eMobility, renewable energy, and industrial power.

The SiC KGD program is currently active and covers the entire range of SemiQ's QSiC 1200V SiC MOSFETs, which includes variants ranging from 20mΩ to 80mΩ. This comprehensive portfolio is designed to support robust and efficient electrification across various industries, offering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
